On Thursday April 30 Rockway welcomed 65 grandparents “back to school”! Following a welcome by Tom Bileski (Direction of Community Relations) and Terry Schellenberg (Principal) grandparents participated in a chapel focused on "Stories of Faith". Grade 10 students Vanessa Snyder Penner Andrew Wenger and Amy Joy Anderson each reflected on various aspects of the faith story of which they have become part. Chapel also included the music of Grade 8 flutists and a rousing anthem entitled "Hosanna" offered by our senior choir. Following chapel Grade 7 students graciously hosted the grandparents with a tea and program. It was a wonderful way to celebrate and acknowledge the importance of grandparents in the lives of our students and in the life of our school.

September 11 2008 saw clear blue skies a few clouds and a helicoptor flying over Rockway filming our students faculty and staff as they gathered on the front lawn in the shape of a peace sign. The purpose was to show their visible support for peace as part of a YouTube video project created by Matthew Bailey-Dick from Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Ontario.
